Super Saturday - February 1, 2014

Mandatory for all foil fencers, please arrive at 8:30 a.m. at Ardsley High School.

Epee fencers are included in this event and should arrive at 8:30 a.m. but will probably be done around noon.  The other schools do not all have dedicated Epee teams, they often use their Foil teams for Epee events. Since this is primarily a Foil Super Saturday, you will only be fencing other schools which have a dedicated Epee Team.

Everyone on the team should bring their knickers, and jacket, team socks, team t-shirt, sneakers, Team jacket.(shorts are usually worn under the knickers in case there is a need for changing in public) and usually sweatpants for AFTER and BEFORE actual fencing.

This a long day, usually ending around 4:00 p.m. for the Foil fencers.  After we help Coach Bob clean up and pack our equipment we often go out to a local restaurant or diner to relax after all the excitement. All Lourdes fencers and families are invited to join us.

New Practice and addition to this weekend's Super Saturday

I am sorry for the late update, we have a couple of important changes:

1.  Coach Bob wants to get in a practice this week.

There WILL be a fencing practice this Thursday.  On Thursday, January 30th there will be a fencing practice for all members of the Lourdes team starting at 4:00 through 7:00 p.m.  The gym will be available to us for this practice.

The midterms for the day are over at noon, so George will be staying after the midterm exam and ordering out for lunch from a local restaurant that delivers.  He welcomes any other members of the team to stay too and join him.  So please bring your fencing gear (and some money if you wish to order out for lunch.)

2.  The Super Saturday on this weekend at Ardsley was originally for Foil fencing.  That has changed, Coach says that Epee members from all the high schools will now be fencing at this event.  All Epee fencers are urged to come to this weekend's event to fence.  Details will be discussed at Thursday's practice.

Meet with Arlington at Lourdes

Fencing meet with Arlington at Lourdes, after school at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22.

Remember to bring your fencing gear and Team uniform.

Pickup will be at Lourdes a little earlier than normal fencing practice.

From NYC, Westchester & Connecticut - Take Thruway to Tappan Zee Bridge:
Get off EXIT 11 (Nyack)
Go one block to first traffic light (Route 9W)
Turn left onto Route 9W NORTH
Proceed approximately one mile - on the left you will see the HS, but you cannot enter from Rte. 9W, heading north
Proceed straight to the traffic light
Turn left onto Christian Herald Road
Continue on Christian Herald Road (past athletic fields)
Turn LEFT into HS parking lot

From Upstate:
Take Thruway to Exit 11
Light at end of ramp is Route 59
Make a left ­ go to traffic light (Route 9w)
Make a left onto Rte 59 and proceed as above

Coach Bob has asked fencers who are assisting with setup of the equipment
to come to Arlington at around 7:00 a.m., for those who are helping with the food concessions, get there at around 8:00.

All members who will be fencing should get there around 8:15 in the morning.

This will be an all day event and we are co-hosting with Arlington.

We ask that everyone from the team come and help, cheer on the team and wear their uniforms so that we can get a full team photo of everyone in their uniforms.
